Vintage Paul Cardew Miniature Toy Box Teapot for sale in Novato, CA

1 of 10

This is a vintage, circa 1993, collectible, miniature ceramic teapot by the artist Paul Cardew.  Cardew’s work was first shown in the USA in 1992 and his designs had an instant appeal to the North American marketplace. Such is the character of the teapot toy box. The body of the teapot is amber colored; one side is decorated with green scrolls, red and white flowers and two open drawers. The opposite side bears the name “Toy Box” in bold red lettering surrounded by green scrolls. The top of the teapot sports a white airplane, a green train, a brown teddy bear, a red soldier, and a blue and white “snakes and ladders” board.

This is a miniature teapot; the measurements approximately are: 5” tall x 10” wide including the handle and spout x 4” wide. There are no chips or cracks. The original tags and paper work are included. However, I do think that the “rag doll” piece of the teapot is missing. Therefore, I have adjusted the price, but I still wish to emphasize the functionality of this piece, as well as, its overall beauty and exquisiteness.

Lastly, I acquired this piece as part of an estate that I have been charged with liquidating; ie., I found this teapot in the back of a cabinet, and it has not been used. The piece bears the mark on its underside, “Cardew Design, Made In England” and signed “P. Cardew D/085”. All reasonable offers for piece will be entertained.
